Why the Blue Check Verification Subscription on Meta Instagram and Facebook might not be worth it: An Unpopular Opinion

So, I saw this post about blocking fake blue check people on Facebook and Instagram. I tried to give my opinion, but it went about as well as trying to teach a cat how to drive a car. So, instead, I'm channeling my inner Nicki Minaj to share my thoughts on this topic.

Back in the day, getting verified with a blue check was the ultimate goal for anyone trying to make it big on social media. It was like a badge of honor, a signal to the world that you were the real deal. But now, Meta (aka Facebook and Instagram) is offering a blue check subscription for $14.99 a month. That's right, you can now pay for the privilege of being verified.

Personally, I think it's a good idea to have a blue check to confirm that an account is legit and prevent impersonation. But seriously, $14.99 a month? That's like half a month's worth of avocado toast! Other social media platforms are also offering this feature, so the price should be reduced.

So, what do you think? Are you going to fork over the cash for a blue check? Or are you happy to stick with being a lowly, unverified peasant like me? Either way, don't forget to join my community and sign up for my newsletter. Who knows, maybe one day I'll even have a red check mark!

It's okay to be vulnerable

Greetings, my dear blog readers! Today's post is a bit different from my usual hilarious content. So, if you're here for a good laugh, I suggest you grab a banana and peel out of here. But if you're up for some real talk, then stay tuned!

Recently, I had a realization while scrolling through my social media accounts—not that I spend way too much time on them (which I do), but that it's important to share your story and not suffer in silence. Now, I'm not one to open up easily; I'm about as transparent as a brick wall. But, since I have this little public platform and my followers are practically my BFFs, I thought maybe it's time to be vulnerable and share what's been going on in my personal life.

So, without further ado, let me spill the tea. After the chaos of homeschooling during COVID-19, I found out my eldest daughter has developed a mental illness—schizophrenia, to be precise. This post isn't for sympathy, but to raise awareness about this illness and educate people.

Now, I know this isn't my usual niche, but if you're a parent going through a similar situation, I've got your back. You can follow me on Quora under the name Natasha Vick and ask me any questions. And if you want me to create a space dedicated to this topic, let me know in the comments below.

So, that's all for now, folks! Remember, it's okay to be vulnerable, even if it feels like you're standing naked in front of your high school bullies. Sharing your story might just help someone else who's going through a tough time.
